Western authorities claim there are virtually no clinical human exposure studies on the hazards of diagnostic ultrasound (DUS). But actually, to the contrary, high-tech clinical studies dominate the modern era, clearly indicating hazards.
Jim West, a New York–based independent researcher of environmental medical issues, has assembled an unprecedented bibliography of about 50 Chinese Human Studies and 10 overviews from 1988 to 2011. These show fetal damage following in utero exposure to DUS within one minute or more of exposure. Intensity levels were low compared to those used in Western clinical practice. Women volunteers were exposed to DUS, and their terminated fetuses examined for biological effects. Damage was observed for neurons, DNA, cornea, chorionic villi, ovaries, testes, kidneys, glands and more. These studies are not readily available online. Only a few of these studies are listed (and crudely) in the PubMed database (U.S. NIH).
Few Western studies have been conducted since 1991 when the US FDA raised the machine intensity limit by a factor of eight. Ultrasound critics have long argued that the rising epidemic of childhood diseases since the early 1990s is due to the increasing intensities and sessions of routine ultrasound. Additionally, machines and operators have not been well regulated.
The Chinese Human Studies give considerable cause for concern. Jim's book, A New Bibliography, has been commended by scientists, doctors, and environmentalists. Jim advocates for a major re-evaluation of the practice of diagnostic ultrasound.
The Chinese studies support Western critics. Here is the historical correlation of ultrasound and autism.
The Chinese studies support Western studies such as the observations of William O'Brien re growth restriction (risk factor for autism) and ultrasound.
Jim's ultrasound causation model is fully compatible with the vaccine model, and should revolutionize the vaccine debate. His model includes the concept of toxic synergy. Ultrasound is a powerful synergist, capable of initiating fetal vulnerabilities to subsequent toxic exposure. Thus the risk of subsequent exposure to vaccines, birth drugs, antibiotics and other environmental stressors would be raised by prenatal ultrasound, not in addition, but as a multiplier.
The ultrasound-vaccine synergy model saves the anti-vaccine position, changing it from a defense to a strong offense for those concerned with the science of human health.
A New Bibliography with Commentary
1) Supports Western critics who have long argued that ultrasound contributes to various neonatal and childhood diseases, and neurological epidemics such as ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and eye diseases.
2) Supports and revives earlier Western animal studies that are critical of ultrasound, yet had been rejected or ignored.
3) Enables arguments for novel disease causation models, for example, chorioamnionitis, neonatal jaundice, bone and tissue malformation, immune dysfunction, and a wide variety of diseases related to broad-spectrum hormonal dysfunction.
About the Author
Jim West is known for his original research published June 2000 in The Townsend Letter for Doctors and Patients, where he introduced the pesticide/polio paradigm and unearthed relevant research arcana. His work found its way into several professional books, journals, and websites. It has been used as a powerful argument against vaccine paradigms. In 2001, ABC News journalist and producer, Nicholas Regush, extensively reviewed Jim's research into environmental causation for West Nile epidemics, gaining a strong readership and response. Jim resides in New York City, where he is a member of the NoSpray Coalition which litigated against NYC helicopter pesticide spraying programs, and he is a member of Toastmasters.
