West Nile Virus Epidemics
The Epidemiology of Air Pollution

Preferred Definition of Ground Level Ozone: Ozone is a reaction product to industrial pollution, and therefore an indicator of location and extent of industrial air pollution. The EPA, however, characterizes ozone as very hazardous and provides the public with much consistent data for ozone yet relatively little data for industrial pollutants. See www.epa.gov/airnow
Science professionals note: The article wnvDBcty.htm approaches a formal style. Much of the work on this site surpasses much published peer reviewed work in terms of diligence, range of views, objectivity, and interest conflicts. Most often the method is a simple juxtaposition of official data. Like many published peer reviewed articles which include anecdotal contextual evidence, such is provided. The word "autopsy" is used synonymously here for "necropsy" with regard to animals, because that is how The New York Times uses these words, and apparently the NYSDEC uses the word autopsy with regard to animal necropsies, because NYTimes is referring to interviews with NYSDEC officials.
Introduction
This site provides critical reviews of data related to the phenomena called "The West Nile Virus Epidemics", and provides an environmental base for understanding. When you are finished looking at this site, you may very well conclude that the West Nile Virus is harmless, and the official propaganda regarding it is not only false, but quite harmful.
The official West Nile virus paradigm actually does make political sense. After all, you can't expect Mayor Giuliani to say, "Thousands of birds are falling from the sky because of petrochemical emissions in Jersey, illegal emissions, major airport take-off lanes over residential zones, congested automobile traffic, and gasoline with 15% MTBE, which is a neurological poison. Air pollution has triggered the deaths of birds already burdened with pesticides, mercury, and lead residues. If you're a visiting tourist, chances are you'll be OK, and NYC loves your money. So, let's all pretend it's a deadly virus and endure rituals of mind-numbing fear, dramatized by occasional unscheduled pesticide sprayings by helicopters over crowded streets and parks."
While protecting the city from massive lawsuits, Giuliani has frequently broadcasted that "Malathion is harmless" and "Pesticides are safe" although he has been warned by the EPA and the NYS Attorney General Eliot Spitzer regarding the legal improprieties of making such statements. The Mayor also stated that he had been sprayed five times and that he was nevertheless an example of good health (Newsday, 3/10/00). Not long after that statement, Giuliani admitted that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer and cancelled his bid for the senate. It would be difficult to prove that the malathion spray program specifically caused Giuliani's cancer, though malathion exposure has been correlated with increased incidence of prostrate cancer (Fleming LE, et al, "Mortality in a cohort of licensed pesticide applicators in Florida", Occup Environ Med 1999 Jan;56(1):14-21).
